Is comma a separator in a title tag? - answered by Matt Cutts

Matt's answer:

Today’s question comes from Adrian in Europe. Adrian doesn’t want to specify which country he’s from evidently. Adrian asks, Hi Matt. More and more websites started using comma as a separate in title tag, less pipes or dashes. Is comma really a separator, or if it’s better for the visitors it’s better for SEO? Thanks. So the main thing you need to know is that the only thing that really isn’t a great separator that immediately leaps to mind at least is the underscore, because you might have a underscore b and we treat that like a underscore b rather than the words a or b. So spaces, commas, pipes, dashes, all those things are good separators. So in general I would say try to make a title or a title that looks pretty for users and any one of those characters connect well as separators as well. So whatever you think looks best for users, whatever converts best, any one of those should work just fine as far as the SEO.
