Which search feature would you add to Google? - answered by Matt Cutts

CUTTS: This is one of my favorite questions. It comes from Paddy Moogan in the UK, and Paddy asks, “If you could improve one thing or add a feature to Google search right now, what would it be?” Well, there’s a lot. There’s a lot of things I would add or, you know, want to do in Google search. The one thing that immediately came to mind is that if you go to Google and you type in the search like flowers. The URL is not just dub, dub, dub Google.com/search question mark Q equals flowers. They always add HL equals EN, you know, or couple extra perimeters. And I’m always emailing those searches around. And so, I don’t want those extra parameters. I’m always speaking English. I’m not smart enough to speak other languages. So I really wish that Google would only show me Q equals flowers and not add any other parameters. I thought about making a Greasemonkey extension that just automatically deletes HL equals EN and all those other things. So it’s kind of small, it’s kind of annoying, I’ve poked a few people about it. People aren’t that incredibly excited about it because not that many people email URLs of Google around. But who knows. Maybe some day I will prevail. In the meantime, thanks for asking. That’s a great question. That’s probably the one thing that off the top of my head I would definitely change about Google search.
